What happens in the five to seven working days after you order

Five to seven working days sit between your order and its dispatch. Nothing is waiting on a shelf when you place it, so those days are the time it takes to make the thing. Here is what they hold, and what they do not.

What do the five to seven working days measure?

Order to dispatch, and nothing beyond that. The count starts when your order reaches us and stops when the parcel leaves. Working days exclude Sundays and public holidays, so an order placed late on a Friday effectively begins on Monday.

Delivery time sits on top and depends on where you are. We would rather scope the promise honestly than quote a doorstep date we do not control. Shipping across India is complimentary either way.

What happens to the cloth in that time?

The order names two sizes, one for the top and one for the bottom, anywhere from XXS to 5XL. The cloth is cut to those two sizes. Then the pieces are stitched, finished, checked and packed.

The cut is specific to your order rather than to an average, and that is the part that cannot be done in advance. Cotton behaves differently from denim under the shears, and a handwoven Kala cotton moves differently again, so the cutting table is not the place to hurry. Why we work this way is set out in why we cut after you order.

Styles with hand-added work take longer than plain ones. Appliqué, crochet trims and lace edging are added by hand, and hands do not speed up because a shipping window is closing.

Why does an order sometimes take the seventh day?

Because finishing and checking are allowed to send a piece backwards. Hems, buttonholes, thread trimming and a proper press come first, then the set is measured and the seams are looked over.

Fit is judged against the ease the style was cut to, not against a general idea of correct. A Contour piece is meant to sit close. An Oversized piece is meant to fall away.

Fit Ease over your measurement
Contour 2 inches
Classic 6 inches
Relaxed 9 inches
Oversized 10 inches

If something misses, it goes back rather than forward. That is the honest reason an order occasionally lands on day seven instead of day five. The method behind the numbers, with where to hold the tape, is on the fit guide.

Can I change a size after ordering?

Tell us as early as you can. Write through contact with your order number and the size you meant, and do it the same day if possible. Once cloth has been cut to a size, that cut cannot be undone.

Before a first order, the better move is to ask. Send us the style name and we will send you the garment measurements for it, so the decision is made against real numbers.

What if the size is wrong when it arrives?

One free size exchange per order, with a prepaid pickup, requested within 7 days of delivery. Write to us with your order number, the piece you want to change and the size you want instead, and we arrange the pickup from the delivery address.

We do not accept returns. A set cut to your two sizes was never in stock, so there is no shelf for it to go back to. For the same reason, the replacement is made the way the first one was, and it takes the same 5 to 7 working days.

This is also why the halves of a set are sized apart. When only one piece is wrong, only one piece is remade, and the other stays with you. The pieces are listed on their own as well, under tops and bottoms. More on how we came to work this way is in our story.

What else do people ask?

Is five to seven working days the delivery time?

No. It is the time from order to dispatch. Courier time is added on top and depends on your address.

Why does the same set take five days once and seven another time?

Finishing and checking decide it. If a measurement or a seam is not right, the piece goes back rather than forward.

Can I exchange for a different size?

Yes. One size exchange is free, with a prepaid pickup, if you ask within 7 days of delivery. There are no returns, and the exchange is for size rather than for a different style or colour.

Does the exchange take five to seven working days too?

Yes. There is no stock to pull from, so the replacement is cut and made the way the first one was.

Can I order this as a gift for a particular date?

Count backwards from the date: 5 to 7 working days to dispatch, plus courier time. If the date is tight, write to us before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether it can be met.
